Synopsis

Love takes an unconventional path for Koizumi Risa and Ootani Atsushi, two high school students desperate to find their ideal partners. Koizumi stands at an imposing 172 cm, towering over the average girl, while Ootani is a diminutive 156 cm, well below the average height for a guy. Their romantic struggles deepen when their respective crushes end up falling for each other, leaving Koizumi and Ootani comically flustered and heartbroken. Compounding their misery, their homeroom teacher brands them a comedy duo because of their clashing personalities and extreme height difference, causing classmates to view their heated arguments as improvised sketches. Lovely★Complex tracks Koizumi and Ootani as they support one another in their quest for love, eventually growing into close friends. Beyond their absurd antics, they discover a surprising alignment in their tastes regarding music and fashion. Perhaps they share an unknown chemistry, but the question remains: can love ever bloom between such a mismatched pair?

The North American distribution company Discotek released a Blu-ray for the series on January 30th, 2024, which was also the first time the series was dubbed in English.
