Synopsis
In 2059, the Earth has been under attack by aliens for several years. Hoping to gain a better understanding of these invaders, Dr. Noguchi, along with his assistants Maki Agata and Takuto Kenishiro, attempts to bring the professor's experiment back to life: a massive Bio-Mechanical alien designated Frank. As the process unfolds, Frank comes to 'life,' the laboratory is destroyed, and Takuto is left as the sole survivor while the creature vanishes into the wilderness. Roaming the wilds, Frank crosses paths with Hattie, a deeply disturbed young girl who lost her parents during the first 'close encounter' war. Strangely, she is able to communicate with Frank, and soon the two are taken into custody by a covert agency known only as 'Funeral.' Meanwhile, Takuto awakens in a hospital bed, his life in ruins and his face permanently disfigured. Consumed by grief and a desire for vengeance, Takuto accepts the offer of the mysterious 'Mr. X' and is granted a new identity as a high-ranking Funeral officer: Ryu Soma.
