In the second season of On The Edge, He Fangzhi and Aya solve the mystery behind Lord Lin's murder. Afterwards, they take on a new assignment given by the Pavilion Master: travel to Fengming Mountain in the Northwest to rescue someone. During their journey, He Fangzhi meets a wide variety of people, from those of high rank to members of the martial world. Each person confronts their own choices and holds fast to the convictions they believe in.

After parting ways with the retired Marquis of Dingwu, He Fangzhi and the enigmatic Zhou Luobin continue their journey through the martial world, determined to unearth the truths behind the events that caused He's father's downfall. Their travels take them from the capital to the vital frontier settlement of Jiyang City in Liaodong, where they confront the harsh realities described in the verse: "The north wind sweeps the land, breaking the white grass; by the eighth lunar month, snow dances in the northern skies." Hemmed in by hidden enemies, He Fangzhi is attacked by a host of fighters. With Zhou Luobin's aid, they overcome many obstacles, and the mysteries surrounding He's earlier case—including the grudges involving his Sichuan teacher, called the "Knife Demon"—begin to emerge. Every fierce clash reveals the intricate connections between the wulin and the imperial court, underscoring the conflict between personal conviction and unwavering resolve, and the struggle between noble aspirations and treacherous schemes, painting a full portrait of the Zhen Dao Ge world.
