High Score Girl: Extra Stage
ハイスコアガール EXTRA STAGE
Synopsis
Continues the story of Hi Score Girl
In 1991, arcade gaming is booming, and the concept of becoming a professional player is still an unrealized ambition. Sixth-grader Haruo Yaguchi is determined to pursue this path, having gained recognition and self-confidence from dominating local arcades. His world is disrupted when classmate Akira Oono defeats him in Street Fighter 2. Akira is known for being attractive, wealthy, and academically excellent—the picture of perfection. Haruo previously paid little attention to those traits, but now his faith in his own unmatched gaming skill is shattered. Though he feels bitterness toward Akira, there is also a desire for a true rival, and Akira fits that role perfectly.
In this installment
Four years after their initial encounter, Haruo Yaguchi, Akira Oono, and Koharu Hidaka maintain a tight friendship. However, conflicts emerge when Akira's mentor, Gouda Moemi, grows more severe, and Hidaka develops a crush on Haruo. Even though Haruo can be tactless and thoughtless at times, his unwavering passion for video games remains the force that sustains their connection.
