Figure 17: Tsubasa & Hikaru

Synopsis

Tsubasa Shiina is a ten-year-old girl who has just moved to Hokkaido to live with her father. She is very quiet and has trouble socializing with her classmates at school. One night, she sees a UFO crash in the forest near her house. She goes to the crash site and finds the pilot, whose code name is "D.D.," in a critical state. Also present is a Maguar, a grotesque alien that emerged from an egg inside D.D.'s ship. When the Maguar is about to kill Tsubasa, an alien life-form merges with her body to create the Riberus battle armor known as Figure 17, which swiftly destroys the alien threat. That life-form takes the name Hikaru and becomes Tsubasa's identical twin sister. Over time, thanks to Hikaru, Tsubasa grows more open with the people around her. However, with Maguar eggs scattered throughout Hokkaido, the two must continue to combine into Figure 17 to eliminate every hatched Maguar until backup arrives from D.D.'s home planet.
