Synopsis
In the eerie, desolate world of Tenshi no Tamago, normal life has vanished. Strange sights fill the landscape: floating orbs encasing statues of deities, massive unmanned tanks, fishermen chasing phantom fish shadows, and caves adorned only with glass jars of water. Through this decaying environment, a young girl cares for a large egg while foraging for food. She meets a mysterious man carrying a cross on his back, who becomes fascinated by the girl and the secret within her egg. As they wander the ruined land together, they engage in thoughtful discussions about faith, the meaning of existence, and the origins of their own lives.
Background
When it was brought to the US, 45 minutes of live action footage was added in an attempt to release it as a post-apocalyptic thriller called In The Aftermath: Angels Never Sleep.
