As crime and terrorism continue to rise in Tokyo, the police department deploys Team Warrior, a unit of highly capable but recklessly bold female officers. The team includes the volatile Rio, the trigger-happy gunner Maya, and the elite computer specialist Lilica. Together, they approach each assignment with full force, no matter the consequences.

Burn Up Excess centers on Team Warrior, an elite counter-terrorism squad within the Neo-Tokyo Police. The team includes Rio, who is perpetually short on cash; Maya, a firearms enthusiast; Lillica, a computer specialist; Nanvel, a tech expert; Yuji, a pilot with a habit of spying; and their enigmatic leader, Maki. They handle various tasks such as providing security, stopping robberies and arms smuggling, and protecting a powerful tank. Rio and her companions repeatedly foil the schemes of Ruby, an agent working for a secret coalition of influential figures. As the story approaches its conclusion, it uncovers the formation of Team Warrior, the deliberate reason for Rio's recruitment, and Maki's tragic history.
