James "Jim" Roby Gallant was born on Christmas Eve in 1930 in Marion, Ohio. His enduring passion for broadcasting, radio, and television fueled a 59-year career in the entertainment industry. Throughout his professional life, Jim served as a disc jockey, a staff announcer for radio and TV, and a newsman for both mediums. His early career included work at WFMJ, and he later worked in major markets such as Dayton, Norfolk, Chicago, New Haven, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Miami. For the final three decades of his career, he was based in Los Angeles, where he worked as a voice-over artist on commercials and in theatre, television, and film. Jim hosted his own television program, Jim Gallant Connecticut Bandstand, which aired from New Haven, Connecticut. He was widely recognized as "the voice" in Kansas City and served as a host on the Encore cable channel in Los Angeles. A member of both the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), Jim Gallant passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
