Synopsis
In 2021, a parasitic virus named Gastrea turns infected humans into terrifying monsters. The remaining survivors live within fortifications constructed from Varanium, the sole substance capable of repelling Gastrea. The Tendo Civil Security identifies specific young girls as "Cursed Children" and assigns them the rank of Initiator. Because their bodies harbor traces of the virus, these Initiators possess immense abilities. Every Initiator is matched with a Promoter whose duty is to guide and safeguard them. These pairs are sent on missions to fight the Gastrea-born creatures and protect human communities. Black Bullet centers on Enju Aihara, an Initiator, and her Promoter, Satomi Rentaro, as they undertake missions to counter the escalating Gastrea threat in their home city of Tokyo.
Background
Black Bullet was simulcast outside of Japan by Crunchyroll. The series adapts the first 4 novels of Shiden Kanzaki's light novel series of the same title.
