Synopsis
In a distant future where six colossal meteor impacts have shattered the world, crystalline entities called Gems reside. Each Gem is tasked with defending against the Lunarians, a species that assaults them to shatter their forms and repurpose the fragments as ornaments. Phosphophyllite, known as Phos, is a fragile young Gem who yearns to fight alongside their comrades. However, due to their delicate constitution, they are assigned the duty of compiling an encyclopedia. As Phos reluctantly begins this work, they encounter Cinnabar, a clever Gem exiled to night patrols on a remote island because of the toxic poison their body emits. Witnessing Cinnabar's suffering, Phos determines to discover a meaningful purpose for both of these outcast Gems. The story of Houseki no Kuni chronicles Phos' journey to demonstrate their worth and safeguard their fellow Gems.
