Synopsis
After a movie date gets canceled, Fumihiko Matsumaru is about to throw away his tickets when Aka Onda, a budding voice actress, asks if she can join him. They enjoy a pleasant evening thanks to Aka's cheerful attitude. While heading home, they realize they live nearby, and fate takes an unexpected turn when Fumihiko wakes up to find Aka's apartment burning down, leaving her with nothing. He offers her a place to stay temporarily, and they end up sharing his bed. From that point on, their lives become intertwined both personally and professionally. Despite their initial intimate night, they decide to live together as platonic roommates. Furthermore, Fumihiko discovers that Aka will voice the mascot he created for his company's latest project. Striving to keep their living arrangement private, Fumihiko and Aka support each other through the ups and downs of their careers.
Background
The episodes of Rec are titled after movies featuring Audrey Hepburn, Onda's dream idol. The opening sequence also contains many glamour shots with Onda dunning Hepburn's famous costumes in various movies, such as the pipe-holding shot of Breakfast at Tiffany's and the afternoon dress with a flamboyant hat in My Fair Lady.
