Synopsis
Continues the story of Macross Plus
In 2040, humanity has spread across the galaxy with numerous colonies and advanced technology. Artificial intelligence has reached near-perfection, and the current top idol is the almost-complete Virturoid Idol Sharon Apple. The only thing missing is her genuine emotions, which are provided by Myung Fang Lone. Sharon's debut concert takes place on planet Eden, where fighter pilots Isamu Dyson and Guld Bowman are simultaneously competing for aerial dominance in the "Supernova Project." Isamu, Guld, and Myung were once childhood friends, but after an incident seven years ago, they went their separate ways. With Myung's return, old conflicts resurface. When an unstable and illegal AI technique is installed in Sharon, the situation escalates further.
In this installment
35 years after Lynn Minmay's efforts brought peace between Zentradi and humanity during the Macross era, Nekki Basara serves as both guitarist and vocalist for the band Fire Bomber. He lives in an underdeveloped section of the flying colony City 7, which is searching for a habitable world, and he writes and performs songs believing music holds a deeper power. As the colony journeys through space, a mysterious alien race appears and begins attacking City 7. Their assault is unusual—rather than destroying the city, they steal a substance called "spiritia," leaving their victims unresponsive and lifeless. In the midst of these battles, Basara regularly ventures straight into the combat zone, singing his songs in the hope that both allies and enemies will listen and be moved by his music.
