Synopsis

Continues the story of Shadows House

In the secluded mountains, far from human civilization, lives the noble Shadows family, distinguished by their black forms and the soot they emit when upset. Each Shadow child, upon nearing adulthood, receives a Living Doll—a companion and substitute for the facial features they lack due to their dark appearance. Emilico, a lively new Doll, is assigned to the gentle-mannered Shadow named Kate. Though their personalities differ greatly, Emilico dedicates herself to serving her master's every need. As Emilico gains insight into her responsibilities and encounters other Dolls and their masters, she starts to piece together the enigma of her own purpose. One of the core rules for Dolls is "Do not concern yourself with minor issues." Yet, how can the inquisitive Emilico overlook the profound mysteries concealed within the Shadows House?

In this installment

After the first season's events, Kate and her Doll Emilico dwell within the Shadows House but remain under close watch by the Star Bearers, who enforce control over the children's quarters. To evade this surveillance and the oppressive tactics used to secure loyalty, Kate and Emilico must carefully choose allies and strive to earn the rank of Star Bearer themselves. Meanwhile, the Star Bearers face internal turmoil as a mysterious cloaked figure known as "Master Robe" has slipped into the children's area. Initially dismissed as harmless, Master Robe becomes entangled in a growing chain of incidents that endanger the Dolls. Determined to rise in status, Kate undertakes to unravel the mystery of Master Robe. With scant clues and numerous possible suspects, tracking down Master Robe and discerning their true intentions for targeting the mansion proves to be an arduous task.
