PERSONA5 the Animation Specials
Synopsis
Continues the story of Persona 5 the Animation
In "Persona 5 the Animation," Ren Amamiya moves to Tokyo and transfers to Shujin Academy after being wrongfully convicted for intervening when a woman was being sexually assaulted. Staying with family acquaintance Sojiro Sakura, Ren discovers a strange app on his phone that leads him to the Metaverse, a realm filled with "shadows" that represent the twisted sides of people's true selves. There, he awakens his Persona, a power born from his inner strength that lets him fight these shadows. Joining forces with other students struggling with their own hardships, Ren forms the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a group dedicated to reforming people by confronting their corrupt desires through "stealing their heart." Their actions bring them both fame and notoriety. But at the peak of their popularity, Ren is captured and held. Waking up in a brutal interrogation, he faces prosecutor Sae Niijima, who is determined to uncover the truth. The outcome of their confrontation and the fate of the Phantom Thieves remain uncertain.
In this installment
The 11th and 12th BD/DVD volumes of Persona 5 the Animation contain two special TV episodes—"Stars and Ours" and "Dark Sun..."—instead of regular episodes. In the first special, shortly after the confrontation with Akechi, Ren helps out at the cafe and discovers a crossword puzzle magazine. Beside a solved puzzle, he sees handwriting belonging to Akechi that reads "Seigi no Akashi (Sign of Justice)." Trying to figure out what it means, Ren walks through snowy streets during winter, looking back on his past interactions with Akechi. The real purpose behind the message and Akechi's true intentions start to become clear... The second special focuses on Valentine's Day and centers on Ren Amamiya.
