Synopsis
Continues the story of Vandread
In Vandread, humanity has spread across the Milky Way with men and women living on separate planets, Taraak and Mejere. A brutal conflict based on gender has escalated to the point where neither side recognizes the other as the same species. Hibiki Tokai, a male third-class laborer from Taraak, ends up stranded on a battleship after a failed attempt to steal a robot. His situation gets worse when he is captured by female pirates aboard the Taraakian Vanguard. The ordeal becomes even more dire when a desperate attack by the male crew of the Vanguard creates a massive wormhole, pulling in both the Vanguard and the Mejeran pirate ships. Now, these men and women find themselves light-years away from their home planets, forced to cooperate if they want to return.
In this installment
After their triumph over a massive Earth battleship at the end of the first stage, Hibiki and the crew find five more battleships heading toward Mejeiru and Tarahk. They discover their home worlds are in danger of Karitori (reaping), forcing them to speed up their return to warn everyone. On the way, a girl named Misty joins them, bringing crucial intelligence about Earth that is even worse than their darkest fears. As enemy attacks grow fiercer, the VANDREAD undergoes its ultimate transformation. Can Hibiki and the team save their home planets, and what will this mean for the bond between Hibiki and Dita?
