Continues the story of Love Live! Superstar!! Season 2
At the start of the new school year at Yuigaoka Girls' High School, the school idol club Liella!, led by co-founder Kanon Shibuya, hopes to recruit new members to their already celebrated group. However, Liella!'s outstanding reputation makes potential recruits hesitant, as they are intimidated by the rigorous training needed to maintain such high standards. While the club worries about recruitment, Kanon meets first-year student Kinako Sakurakouji and introduces her to the world of school idols. Although Kinako is impressed, she feels she is unremarkable and doubts whether she can contribute to Liella!'s dazzling performances. With encouragement from the club, Kinako decides to join, reigniting the team's shared determination to excel in the prestigious Love Live! Competition.

As the Love Live! competition draws closer to its end, Kanon Shibuya makes the choice to accept a study-abroad opportunity overseas, which requires her to part ways with her friends and Liella! teammates. Despite the distance separating them now, Kanon and the others stay dedicated to carrying on with their idol activities. Suddenly, Kanon's plans take a surprising shift when Wien Margarete's parents request that she remain in Japan for an additional year to assist in guiding their daughter. Faced with this situation, Kanon learns that Wien, not being able to go back to her earlier rival group Liella!, opts to form a new unit instead. Determined not to waste Wien’s resolve, Kanon decides to join this new group, also bringing Tomari Onitsuka, the sibling of a former Liella! member. The fresh unit now has to deal with Wien’s troubled history, while the original Liella! team struggles with the emptiness left by their crucial center.
