Often described as Japan's answer to James Bond, Golgo 13 differs from his Western counterpart in his far darker nature, his openly hardcore approach to sex, and his total absence of moral scruples. The man known as Golgo 13 is a figure shrouded in mystery, his true origins unknown, though it is possible he is at least partially Japanese. He accepts any job from any client—the CIA and the KGB have both been named among his employers—provided the payment is sufficient, and he never fails to complete his contracts, even when he has taken on two or more assignments that directly oppose one another. A sharpshooter of uncanny skill, his accuracy borders on 100%, and he is capable of lethal trick shots that seem almost impossible. His weapon of choice is a customized M-16 rifle fitted with a scope, which he employs in his assassinations. He is also a devoted cigar smoker.
