Summer Time Rendering Live-Action Film Locked for 2027 With Ninomiya Directing

Five years after it was first floated, Summer Time Rendering is officially heading to the big screen. The franchise’s official X account confirmed a live-action theatrical film for 2027, timed to the story’s iconic July 22 start date and naming Ken Ninomiya as director.

A live-action project was first announced in 2021, right as Yasuki Tanaka’s suspense manga wrapped and its TV anime was revealed. Production then went quiet; this week’s update is the first firm release window and director credit for the adaptation.

Tanaka’s series launched on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ in October 2017 and closed with its 13th tankōbon in April 2021. English readers have followed it via MANGA Plus, with Udon Entertainment handling print editions. The property also spun out a PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch game in early 2023.
