Petz
Summary
Petz, known as Prizma in English adaptations, is the eldest of the four Dark Kingdom sisters and serves as the counterpart to Makoto Kino. Her name is derived from the mineral petzite. In the anime, she possesses magical abilities labeled as "Dark thunder," although she is only depicted using a tornado in the manga, a move that parallels Sailor Jupiter’s Flower Hurricane. In the manga storyline, Petz is assigned to "Code003 Operation Re-new," where she and her UFO release viruses into Tokyo to infect the populace. When Makoto becomes infected and collapses in her apartment, she wakes up to find her double attempting to choke her. After transforming into Sailor Jupiter and attacking the droid, Petz arrives in her UFO. She expresses amusement that Jupiter survived and vows vengeance for her two deceased sisters. During their battle, Petz traps Jupiter within a tornado generated by the Black Crystal. While Petz is distracted watching Jupiter, Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus arrive. Petz is subsequently killed from behind by Moon Princess Halation, though Rubeus successfully kidnaps Jupiter. In the anime, Petz frequently clashes with Calaveras, yet their operations often result in collaboration. She is highly prideful and willing to exploit others for personal glory and power. Additionally, she remains bitter about a past relationship, reacting strongly when Calaveras teases her about it. Following the betrayal of Cooan and Berthier, Rubeus provides Petz with a stick that infinitely amplifies her dark powers, instructing her to use it to eliminate the Sailor Senshi and her fallen sisters. He warns that failure will result in her being barred from return. The stick drastically boosts Petz’s power and corrupts her personality, allowing her to gain the upper hand against the Senshi. She then turns on Calaveras and attempts to kill her and the remaining sisters. However, the Senshi regain control and knock the stick away, reducing her power. Rubeus then reveals that he anticipated Petz’s failure; his true goal was to lure out the Sailor Senshi and sacrifice all four sisters to kill them. He activates the stick’s true power, creating a massive time-vacuum that threatens to pull in everyone nearby. Now remorseful and no longer possessed, Petz realizes she has enough power in her body to destroy the stick and jumps into the vortex to sacrifice herself. She is stopped by her three surviving sisters. After the Senshi destroy the vortex, Petz is purified along with Calaveras. Later, Petz and her sisters discover a wounded Saphir. Petz tends to his injuries, initially believing he came to punish her sisters. It is then revealed that Petz and Saphir were romantically involved, explaining the source of her bitterness toward men. After Saphir is killed by Wiseman, Petz senses his death and becomes heartbroken, though she remembers his smile for her.
