Summary
Ruby Toujou is a nineteen-year-old witch born on June 18, falling under the Gemini zodiac sign. She stands 165 cm tall and weighs 47 kg, with measurements of 89-57-87. Originally from the human world, she initially participated in a conspiracy to annihilate humanity as retaliation for a massive garbage dump that polluted her mistress's sanctuary. This animosity toward humans was rooted in a traumatic car accident caused by a drunk driver in the human world, which resulted in the death of her parents while the family was on vacation. However, recalling the profound love her parents had for her, Ruby tried to dissuade her mistress from proceeding with the destruction plan. Her efforts failed, as her mistress remained determined to wipe out the human race. Following her mistress's defeat and subsequent rest, Ruby vanished from the scene. She resurfaced when Tsukune lost control of his ghoul nature, assisting Mikogami in sealing his abilities. She subsequently took up residence at Youkai Academy as Mikogami’s aide, a position she maintained during the second manga serialization. Although she is not an official student, she was granted permission to join the Newspaper Club. In the anime adaptation, a recurring gag depicts her randomly switching positions to assist the school. When questioned about these actions, she vaguely mentioned that "many many things" had occurred, though it is widely assumed these are directives from Mikogami as a gesture of gratitude for providing her with a new magic wand. Later content in the manga, specifically an omake, revealed that Ruby’s motivation for working under Mikogami was her infatuation with Tsukune; staying at the academy allowed her to remain close to him. The anime drastically altered her backstory by omitting her master and parents, thereby changing the events of her return and her underlying reasons. Ruby’s magic heavily features motifs of ravens and flora, utilizing them as familiars or as alternate forms for herself. Her most prominent transformation involves sprouting six raven wings with razor-sharp feathers on her back. Additionally, during a training exercise to help Tsukune manage his ghoul powers, Ruby displayed masochistic tendencies and admitted to being a significant pervert, even confessing to Tsukune her desire to be his "toy" while under the influence of the Lilith Mirror.
