Morisato, Megumi
Summary
As Keiichi’s younger sister, Megumi studies engineering at the Nekomi Institute of Technology, mirroring her brother’s path. She possesses considerable mechanical talent, evidenced by her tie against Skuld in a robot construction contest. While the OVA hints at her joining the Motor Club, the manga, TV series, and movie depict her as a member of the softball club, though the manga also highlights her exceptional motorcycle driving skills, which she modestly downplays compared to Keiichi and Belldandy. Her prowess on two wheels earned her the title of "queen" among local touge bike racers after she defeated the previous holder, and in the movie, she is dubbed "The Queen of Drag Racing." Megumi generally presents herself as a teenager with a mature outlook, focusing on career advancement and holding various club positions in college, yet she can slip into childish competitiveness and silly remarks. She struggles with rejection and appears to be a borderline alcoholic, a trait she shares with Sayoko Mishima. This is illustrated when she reappears at the temple drunk and weeping in Keiichi’s arms after being dumped for the third time by boyfriends unable to handle the pressure of dating a local celebrity, echoing Sayoko’s earlier appearance. Belldandy notes similarities between Megumi and Skuld, suggesting Skuld could learn from her. Although she protects Keiichi through teasing and secretly respects his and Belldandy’s mechanical abilities, she remains unaware of Belldandy’s divine status as a goddess.
