Summary

Rintaro Okabe, frequently referred to as Okarin or by his alter ego Hououin Kyouma, serves as the primary protagonist of the Steins;Gate franchise. At eighteen years old during the main series and nineteen in Steins;Gate 0, he is a university student affiliated with the Future Gadget Lab. Born on December 14, 1991, with a height of 177 cm and blood type A, Okabe presents himself as a theatrical and eccentric self-proclaimed mad scientist. He insists on being addressed as Hououin Kyouma, a persona he adopts to project a mysterious aura and claim to be an agent fighting against a shadowy "Organization," although this delusion often fades as the narrative progresses, with entities like SERN taking on that role. His behavior includes eccentric mannerisms such as talking to himself on the phone and bursts of maniacal laughter, which often make him appear paranoid or delusional to others. While his social skills are notably poor—with Kurisu noting that even the childlike Mayuri seems more normal by comparison—he is quick to assist strangers despite his intelligence making him susceptible to deception.
