Summary
Ptilol, known as Petite Roll in the manga and Petirol in the dub, is the second half of the witch Cyprine, and together they are regarded as the fifth member of the Witches 5. Named after the mineral ptilolite, the two are essentially a single entity split into two forms. While creator Naoko Takeuchi stated in the Materials Collection that Ptilol is merely an extension of Cyprine’s power, they function as one being. In the anime, Cyprine appears as the final Witch 5, revealing Ptilol only when confronted. The pair prove nearly invincible to the Sailor Senshi, as one uses powers to block attacks while the other blasts from behind. Eventually, the Senshi trick them into firing at each other, resulting in the simultaneous death of both. In the manga, Cyprine is the highest-ranking witch at level 999, with a death attack called "Ribbon Buster," and is summoned by Kaolinite specifically to handle the Sailor Senshi. She attacks Haruka Tenoh in her apartment, prompting Haruka to transform into Sailor Uranus while Sailor Neptune and Sailor Pluto appear to assist. Cyprine then uses her abilities to magnify the existing hostility and tension between the Inner and Outer Senshi. Horrified by this maneuver, Sailor Moon attempts to destroy Cyprine with her Moon Spiral Heart Attack, but the attack fails. Unharmed, Cyprine splits herself into two halves: herself and Ptilol. They clarify that they are not twins but one person divided, with Ptilol being an extension of Cyprine that manifested separately. Believing they are undefeatable, the duo faces Sailor Moon, who gathers energy from all the Senshi to create the Holy Grail and transform into Super Sailor Moon. She then uses the "Rainbow Moon Heart Ache" attack to destroy both Cyprine and Ptilol.
