Spinel Sun
Summary
Spinel Sun is a cat-like magical guardian forged by Eriol Hiiragizawa to serve as a counterpart to the original Clow Reed guardian, Cerberus. While his true form resembles a winged black panther, his false form takes on the appearance of a small winged cat. Often referred to as Suppi by Ruby Moon, he typically maintains a calm demeanor and spends much of his time reading, though Ruby Moon frequently teases him about needing to enjoy himself more. For the majority of the series, Spinel Sun stays hidden from the main cast, with the sole exception of an encounter where he crosses paths with Cerberus in his false form. Cerberus fails to recognize him, instead labeling him a monster and offering him sweets, which inadvertently transforms Spinel Sun into a hyperactive eating machine. Cerberus remains unaware of Spinel Sun’s true identity until just before the final battle, when the two guardians confront each other. Although Spinel Sun initially seems to have the advantage, Cerberus’s stronger determination to protect Sakura ultimately allows him to emerge victorious.
