Paulie

Summary

Paulie is almost always spotted with a cigar in his mouth and wearing his signature flame-patterned denim jacket, although he swapped this for a black jacket adorned with roses and chains during the Post-Enies Lobby Arc. He has blond hair slicked back, typically wearing orange goggles atop his head, and maintains a frown as his default expression. As the individual closest to and most trusted by Iceburg, Paulie holds a distinct perspective on female attire compared to other characters. Unlike Sanji, he frequently expresses outrage at how much skin women like Nami and Kalifa reveal in the presence of men. Initially introduced as a gambler with debts, he attempted to steal two suitcases full of cash from Luffy, but was stopped by Lucci. Despite his failure, he still demanded a ten percent service fee. Paulie employs a unique combat style involving ropes that emerge from under his sleeves. He carries an absurd amount of rope, measuring hundreds or even thousands of meters, which he can manipulate into complex structures instantly. During the battle at Enies Lobby, he used this skill to create a massive rope net that prevented himself, the entire Franky Family, their Kingbulls, Oimo, and Kasshii from falling into a deep pit. He claims his Galley-La ropes are unbreakable regardless of the load. In attack, the ropes snake out of his sleeves to wrap around his targets. Paulie’s journey to becoming a shipwright began when he attended the inauguration of the Puffing Tom as a child, an event that inspired his career choice. He later joined the Galley-La Company, rising to become one of its top foremen. His first encounter with the Straw Hat Pirates occurred in Water 7, where he served as one of the five foremen at Dock 1, specializing in masts and rigging.
