Summary
When Tenma first encounters Dieter, the young boy is already in the custody of a man named Hartmann. Tenma observes that Dieter is covered in bruises, revealing that Hartmann was attempting to mold him into another Johan, a specific type of leader that had not emerged from 511 Kinderheim in some time. After being rescued by Doctor Tenma from Hartmann’s physical and psychological abuse, Dieter’s outlook brightens significantly.
