Summary
Yozuru Kagenui is a distinctive woman with black hair featuring red streaks and red eyes, styled in a bob cut and accessorized with a bird-shaped hair clip. Her outfit consists of a khaki shirt layered over a black collared top that mirrors the bird motif, paired with dark red pants secured by suspenders and black high-heeled sandals. As a professional onmyouji, she is one of the three core members of her university’s occult research club alongside Deishuu Kaiki and Meme Oshino, having been the only one of the trio to graduate. She is widely recognized in supernatural circles, commanding enough respect that even the powerful Shinobu Oshino withheld information about her. She speaks with a native-level Kyoto dialect and possesses the peculiar habit of avoiding contact with the ground, treating it like a shark-infested sea; she will even use her familiar Yotsugi Ononoki as a stepping stone to maintain this rule. Dubbing herself Japan’s first battle onmyouji, Yozuru is sadistic and brutal, specializing in exorcising immortal beings because they are the only opponents that challenge her. Unlike Meme, Deishuu, and Gaen, she works for free, driven purely by her desire to hunt and kill oddities. She views herself as an ally of justice, believing that immortal oddities have no place in the world and should be eliminated regardless of the consequences. To determine her targets, she categorizes immortal kais into those that are alive forever and those dead forever, hunting only the former. Yotsugi serves as her assistant because she is technically not alive. Despite her brutal methods, she shows consideration, such as regarding Koyomi as a human despite his oddity contacts, and Koyomi notes that she reminds him of Meme. During their fight, Koyomi counted nearly five hundred punches she threw while breaking through multiple floors.
