Summary
Tao Pai Pai serves as the younger brother of Tsuru-Sen'nin and operates as a formidable assassin-for-hire. The Red Ribbon Army employs him to retrieve the Dragon Balls from Goku and eliminate him. He initially overpowers Goku, seizing all the spheres except one, which ultimately saves Goku from Tao’s finishing blow. Returning three days later to claim the remaining Dragon Ball, Tao finds that Goku has undergone rigorous training with Karin, making him far too powerful. In a final attempt to kill Goku, Tao throws a grenade, but Goku deflects it back at him, causing severe injuries. His older brother rebuilds Tao as a cyborg, enabling his participation in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai. There, he brutally defeats Chaozu before fighting Tenshinhan, cutting the warrior’s chest and leaving a permanent scar. However, Tenshinhan quickly disarms and defeats him. Tao Pai Pai makes a reappearance during the Cell Games Saga in the anime. Additionally, his visual design served as the inspiration for Lau Chan from Virtua Fighter.
