Wycelf, Lucien
Summary
Wycelf is the legitimate monarch of Tamir, a kingdom he was forced to surrender to the Earl of Auye, which resulted in the suffering of his people under tyranny and poverty. Initially, he attempts to reclaim his throne by arranging a marriage alliance with the formidable but oppressive Queen Elinor. His path crosses with Ley’s during a dream sequence where he declares Ley his true love and shares a kiss, only to be whisked away by a shadow later identified as Queen Elinor. Upon waking, Wycelf resolves to suppress these romantic dreams and focuses on securing his political future through the marriage. When he later encounters Ley in reality, he is bewildered by the perception that Ley is a man, yet he cannot dismiss the strong feelings he harbors for them. He eventually uncovers Ley’s true gender during a gladiator match held the day prior to his scheduled wedding to Queen Elinor.
