Summary
Nue Houjuu is considered one of the most enigmatic and dreaded youkai of her era, despite having been defeated by humans on numerous occasions. Because she conceals her true form, legends regarding her appearance vary widely. She was previously sealed underground but resurfaced in Gensoukyou following the events orchestrated by Kanako Yasaka and Utsuho Reiuji. She is a mischievous girl who reacts poorly to anyone discovering her genuine appearance and delights in malicious pranks. However, upon learning that Byakuren’s followers were welcoming toward youkai, she felt a measure of guilt for her behavior and eventually went to her temple to train. Her ability allows her to conceal the true nature of objects. An item that has lost its identity appears as something else to different observers, as the observer's brain attempts to fill in the blanks.
