Summary
Ame-warashi, also recognized as a rain sprite or rain maker, is a proud, high-ranking spirit with a deeply hostile attitude toward humans, stemming from her belief that people possess no care or regard for living nature. She approaches Yūko to request the services of Watanuki to save someone at a park filled with hydrangeas. In the anime adaptation, she is depicted as a good-natured and protective friend of the Zashiki-warashi. Her abilities allow her to detect differences between characters and likely sense special abilities, evidenced by her ill feeling toward Himawari and the refreshing, pure scent she detects emanating from Dōmeki. She appears again alongside the Zashiki-warashi to meet Watanuki, maintaining her hostility while offering a cryptic remark regarding his true nature. While her hair is red in the anime, some colored Clamp pieces depict it as blue. The concept of an Ame-warashi is rooted in Japanese folklore.
