Summary
Hala serves as the grandfather of Hau and acts as the kahuna of Melemele Island, specializing in Fighting-type Pokémon. He awards the Melemele stamp to Trainers who manage to defeat him in battle. In the Sun and Moon series, he additionally takes on a role within the Alola Elite Four. It is revealed in League Offenders and Defenders! that Hala previously mentored both Professor Kukui and Guzma. While he tried to maintain peace between the two, Guzma grew disillusioned with Hala's teachings and chose to pursue strength independently, rejecting the use of Z-Rings or Z-Crystals.
