Bastien do Charles, Faron
Summary
Faron, the King of Brune, initially ruled as a benevolent and just monarch until the apparent death of his only daughter, Princess Regin. This tragic event triggered a mental breakdown and a debilitating illness that weakened his body and left him unable to restrain the ambitions of Ganelon and Thenardier. It was later discovered that his condition was exacerbated by poison administered by Ganelon’s minions, a scheme designed to keep the king mentally broken and physically deteriorating at a slow pace. Following the conclusion of the civil war, Faron is joyfully reunited with Regin and officially recognizes her as a member of the Royal Family and his heir. He also extends his congratulations to Tigre and his companions for rescuing Regin and thwarting the plots of Thenardier and Ganelon. In his final moments, Faron bestows upon Tigre the title of Knight of the Moonlight. This ancient honor was historically reserved solely for a hero destined to become the next king of Brune, though only Badowin is aware of this true significance.
