Summary
Information regarding Oriya of the Mibu family remains scarce. He is the proprietor of Kou Kaku Rou, a sophisticated traditional eatery that functions as an exclusive brothel for the elite. This establishment was inherited from his lineage, which has managed the business for generations, with the manga noting it as one of the oldest, if not the oldest, restaurants in Kyoto. Oriya is Muraki’s sole known friend, having met him during their college years. He is recognizable by his ornate kimono and frequently practices kendo while smoking a traditional kiseru pipe, demonstrating high proficiency with the katana. His feelings toward Muraki are intense, though their precise romantic nature is ambiguous. In the series' recent continuation, he is depicted caring for and hosting Ukyou, Muraki’s childhood sweetheart. Although often perceived as neutral or sympathetic, Oriya actively collaborates with Muraki by using his network of high-ranking officials to conceal Muraki’s murders. In exchange, Muraki eliminates problematic women from Oriya’s brothel.
