Summary
Adiane the Elegant serves as the second-in-command among the Spiral King’s Four Supreme Generals and stands out as the sole female member of this elite group. She shares a close bond with fellow General Thymilph, a friendship that Guame jokingly suggests was deeper than mere camaraderie. This intimacy likely stems from the fact that both Guame and General Cytomander looked down on Adiane due to her gender, whereas Thymilph treated her with the respect due a warrior. Following Thymilph’s demise, Adiane is left shocked and swears vengeance, eagerly volunteering to lead an assault against the Team Dai-Gurren when Lordgenome offers her the chance. Although she rejects Lordgenome’s assistance, blaming him for Thymilph’s death, she recruits Viral after he rescues her from being crushed by the Dai-Gurren during an attempt to execute Nia. Once she realizes Lordgenome has abandoned her, she refuses to return to Teppelin, driven by pride to destroy the Team Dai-Gurren before coming back. She utilizes the sea to her advantage when the Dai-Gurren crosses it on its route to Teppelin. Adiane has Viral pilot her Dai-Gunkai to drag the enemy into the freezing depths while she engages in personal combat with the Gurren-Lagann in her Sayrune to prevent any interference. However, her plan ultimately fails. In a desperate move, she attempts to take Nia hostage, but Yoko disables the Sayrune’s shoulder, exposing it to close-range fire from the Dai-Gurren’s artillery cannons. The resulting explosion kills Adiane instantly. Physically, Adiane appears almost entirely human, except for her long, thick scorpion tail and a distinctive snake eye. She wears an eyepatch over her left eye and is dressed in a loose-fitting gown and heels. Her personality is characterized by intense passion and impulsiveness, often allowing anger to cloud her judgment and lead to difficult situations. She frequently takes out her frustrations on Viral. Despite this impetuous nature, she is an exceptionally skilled fighter, capable of battling five powerful Gunmen simultaneously outside her natural element of water. Her name derives from the DNA chemical adenine and the elemental Undine, while her Gunmen, the Sayrune, is based on the mythical Azure Dragon, Seiryuu.
