Summary
Azuma serves as a new recruit for Section 9 during the events of 2nd GIG. Introduced to Aramaki by Kuboda, he was recruited from JGSDF Intelligence to serve as a field operative. He participated in the shipyard battle where his fellow rookie Yano died, and was subsequently removed from field duty before the Dejima confrontation. By the conclusion of 2nd GIG, it is implied that he has become a full member of the unit. He demonstrates significant experience with Solid State Society during his second year. He supports Togusa during the incident at the airport and gathers crucial intelligence on the Kojinkai, a violent crime syndicate featured in Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
