Conis

Summary

Conis serves as the initial point of contact for the Straw Hat Pirates upon their arrival in Skypiea, playing a pivotal role in the Skypiea arc through her interactions with the crew. Initially, she is forced to comply with the strict orders of the self-proclaimed god Enel, who rules over the Sky Islands under the threat of death. When the pirates fail to pay the exorbitant toll, she reluctantly reports them as trespassers. However, the guilt of this betrayal weighs heavily on her, leading her to reveal the truth to Luffy, Sanji, and Ussop while guiding them toward the Upper Yard. This act of defiance against Enel triggers a lightning strike from the heavens aimed at her. Luffy attempts to rescue her but is caught in the blast as well. Both survive only through the assistance of Gan Fall, the knight of the sky. Conis later redeems herself by navigating the Going Merry through the Upper Yard, warning her people of Enel’s impending assault, and assisting the Straw Hats in their descent back to the surface after their victory. Personality-wise, Conis is headstrong, hopeful, and deeply concerned with the well-being of others. Her initial introduction portrays her as happy, friendly, and innocent, traits she maintains throughout her time with the pirates. As the narrative progresses, she grows increasingly courageous, speaking her mind openly and showing no fear of Enel, even as the Straw Hats struggle against him. Musically talented, she is skilled at playing the harp and operates a Waver. Although she does not engage in direct combat, she carries a Burn Bazooka and possesses knowledge of various dials. Her musical prowess led some fans to speculate she might join the crew as their new musician, but she ultimately chooses to remain in Skypiea.
