von Karbelnikoff, Anissina

Summary

Anissina von Karbelnikoff is an inventor and the childhood friend of Gwendal. She frequently uses him to test her creations, a habit that has caused Gwendal to develop a fear of her. When Gwendal is absent, she turns to Günter for testing purposes. Additionally, she is the one who taught Gwendal how to knit, and later instructed Greta in the same skill. When the men are away from the castle, Anissina typically assumes control. During her tenure, her inventions are ubiquitous throughout the estate. The titles of her devices usually end in 'kun' and describe their intended function. Most of these creations require maryoku to operate, yet they often cause more damage than benefit. For instance, an invention designed to allow communication with animals instead led Nicola’s child to summon the dragon Pochi, who wreaked havoc on part of the castle. Despite the chaos, these devices keep Greta entertained, and she considers Anissina to be very cool. Outside of her engineering pursuits, Anissina writes adventure storybooks featuring herself as a superheroine figure. While these books also amuse Greta, Yuri and Wolfram often question their appropriateness for children. Anissina is a member of one of the kingdom's ten noble families, and her brother rules their country. Her character bears a striking resemblance to the real-life French-Russian figure skater Marina Anissina.
