Summary
Ramses is a military officer hailing from a lower-ranking noble family. He is visually distinct due to his heterochromatic eyes, with the left being sepia and the right golden, along with his blonde hair. He has many sisters, most notably Nefert, and his name is occasionally romanized as Usr Ramses. Ramses first meets Yuri during a patrol near the Egyptian-Hittite border while waiting for Zannanza’s caravan. Fascinated by Yuri’s ingenuity and courage in averting war after Zannanza’s assassination, he requests a transfer to Hattusa as a military liaison. However, his true intent is revealed when he kidnaps her, confessing his ambition to overthrow the corrupt leadership of the Egyptian 18th Dynasty and become the next pharaoh. He believes he needs a woman of Yuri’s caliber to serve as his future queen. His initial two kidnapping attempts are thwarted by Kail. A third attempt succeeds when a desperate Rusafa seeks Ramses’s aid, as Yuri is weakened and facing death from a shipwreck that also results in a miscarriage. Once Rusafa escapes Egypt to inform Kail that Yuri survived, Kail dispatches Ilbani, Hadi, Ryui, and Shala to the region. By this time, Ramses has transitioned from viewing Yuri as a political asset to genuinely loving her. However, Egyptian soldiers soon arrest Yuri for interfering with an official’s attempt to cut off a child’s hand. Ramses surrenders himself to Queen Nefertiti’s palace in her place. After Yuri rescues him from execution, he provides her with a document exposing Queen Nakia’s betrayal before she returns to Kail. Ramses and Kail eventually fight to a standstill, leading Ramses to accept defeat. He asks Yuri to bear a daughter to marry his son, a wish that does not directly come to pass but is fulfilled by their grandchildren, Yuri Naptera and Maripas. He ultimately ascends to the throne as Ramses I, the first Pharaoh of the Egyptian 19th Dynasty.
