Nana
Summary
Referred to as Number 7, Nana is a young Silpelit whose physical appearance suggests she is between 12 and 14 years old, although she is actually only about six years old due to the rapid aging characteristic of her kind. Her name, which means the number seven in Japanese, reflects the designation she held at the research facility. While most diclonius infants are euthanized at birth, Nana was one of the few survivors kept alive for experimentation, spending her entire life within the facility. Kurama views her as his daughter and cares deeply for her. When Kurama attempted to recapture Lucy, he dispatched Nana to track her down using their telepathic connection, intending for her to retreat until reinforcements arrived. However, eager to impress Kurama, Nana tried to capture Lucy independently. This led to a brutal telekinetic battle where Lucy tore off all of Nana's limbs. Kurama intervened to save Nana and, defying Director General Kakuzawa's order to execute her, provided her with new prosthetic limbs and released her with a substantial sum of money. Because Kurama treated her with kindness, Nana lacks the homicidal and sadistic tendencies common among other Diclonius. Nana possesses the unique ability to temporarily disable other Diclonius by directing her vectors through their pineal glands. Her vector range is slightly superior to Lucy's at three meters compared to two, but she lacks Lucy's raw strength and violent nature. Her empathy prevents her from fighting with maximum intensity, a vulnerability exploited when Lucy dismembered her. Later, she gains the ability to manipulate prosthetic appendages with her vectors, even using them for rocket-punch style attacks. Nana serves as the opposite of Lucy in many ways. Where Lucy is serious and cold, Nana is friendly and kind. Lucy's split personality, Nyu, resembles Nana's default demeanor, while Nana occasionally enters trances where she acts cold like Lucy's primary self. In terms of maturity, Nana falls in the middle of Lucy's personalities: she is less mature than Lucy but more so than Nyu.
