Summary
Kenji Yanagimoto is a first-year student who advances to the second year, appearing as a teenager of roughly fifteen or sixteen years old. He possesses short, spiky hair that is grey-black in color and wears half-rimmed glasses which obscure his eye color. In terms of physical stature, he stands approximately the same height as Takatoshi Tsuda. While Takatoshi enrolled at Ousai Private Academy simply because it was near his home, Kenji is implied to be one of the 'harem-seekers' that Aria Shichijō references early in the series. These are boys who specifically chose Ousai after it became co-educational, hoping to benefit from the skewed gender ratio that favors girls. Kenji was initially confident that this imbalance would guarantee him at least some Valentine's Day chocolates, though Takatoshi quickly pointed out that being one of the few male students did not automatically make him desirable to the female population. Kenji initially harbored jealousy toward Takatoshi after the latter was selected for the Student Council, particularly because all the members, with one exception, were strikingly beautiful. He openly expressed a desire to replace Takatoshi in the role but quickly withdrew his ambition when Takatoshi offered to hand over the position. Realizing the duties would be arduous, Kenji had no intention of accepting the job, a reaction that annoyed Takatoshi. Despite his initial motives centered on romantic conquest, Kenji settles into the life of a typical teenager once he is established at the school, standing out as comparatively normal when measured against the more eccentric personalities in the series.
