'Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her' Light Novel Ends With Volume 11

The schoolyard mix-up that launched a hit romance has finally reached its last page. Author Yu Hibari’s long-titled romantic comedy Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her (often nicknamed Tenbin) concluded with its eleventh light novel volume, which went on sale Friday under Kadokawa’s Sneaker Bunko imprint.

Hibari first posted the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web novel platform in June 2020. Print editions followed in February 2021, with illustrations by Shirakomiso (also credited as Shiso), tracking country transfer student Hayato as he rediscovers childhood playmate Haruki—once assumed to be a boy—as the poised beauty of his new school.

The franchise has grown well beyond the novels. Kina Oyama’s manga adaptation ran on the Dra-Dra Flat♭ web magazine from September 2021, with Kadokawa collecting a seventh tankōbon in July 2025. Project No. 9’s television anime began airing on July 6 and is available with subtitles on Crunchyroll, so new viewers can still catch the “I was so wrong about her” charm while the source series bows out.

For fans who stuck with Hayato and Haruki from web novel to anime, the final volume is a full-circle send-off—proof that one of the decade’s coziest childhood-friend rom-coms knew when to close the notebook.
