Netflix Drops Second 'The Ribbon Hero' Trailer with New Cast & Theme

Netflix has released the second trailer for its upcoming anime feature The Ribbon Hero, giving fans a richer look at the story of Sapphire, a princess who loses her kingdom to a destructive calamity called Nergal and refuses to let the same fate befall her new home in Goldland.

The new footage introduces additional cast members Seiran Kobayashi as Sapphire's friend Pine, Kōki Uchiyama as the prominent figure Velvet from the religious organization Mitra, and Mayumi Shintani as the elderly attendant Zirco. Lead voice actress Saya of comedy duo Lalande returns as Sapphire in her first feature-length animated role. The trailer also debuts the theme song "Reborn" by the Japanese/Korean group Girls Archives.

Directed by Yuuki Igarashi in his feature directorial debut at his studio OUTLINE, the film features character designs by Kei Mochizuki with cooperation from Mai Yoneyama, animation character design by Issei Arakaki, and music by Satoru Kōsaki and Ryūichi Takada of MONACA. Twin Engine produces the project, which draws inspiration from Osamu Tezuka's classic Princess Knight.

The Ribbon Hero will stream exclusively worldwide on Netflix on August 8, 2026, and is scheduled to screen at this year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival. With its blend of classic roots and contemporary production talent, the film is shaping up as a major highlight for anime movie fans this summer.
