Netflix Brings Second Golden Kamuy Live-Action Film to Global Streaming

Netflix has secured the global streaming rights for the second live-action film based on Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga. Titled Golden Kamuy -The Abashiri Prison Raid-, the movie arrives on the platform July 13, accompanied by an English-subtitled trailer that highlights the escalating chaos of rival factions battling over legendary Ainu gold.

Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada return as the rugged war veteran Saichi Sugimoto and the sharp young Ainu survivor Asirpa. They are joined by new cast members Yū Inaba, Sōkō Wada, and Tetta Sugimoto as the story shifts to high-stakes confrontations inside Abashiri Prison. Director Kenji Katagiri, screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa, and composer Yutaka Yamada are back, with rock band 10-FEET contributing the theme song "Kowarete Kieru made."

The film opened in Japanese theaters in March and posted solid numbers despite a competitive weekend, including IMAX screenings. Netflix previously brought the first Golden Kamuy live-action film and a related series to the service, building on the manga's existing anime seasons and its reputation for blending brutal survival action, dark humor, and rich cultural detail from Meiji-era Hokkaido.

By making this chapter available to viewers worldwide shortly after its domestic run, the deal underscores how major manga properties continue to cross over into live-action formats with growing international reach. Fans of the source material's wild tone and intricate character web now have another accessible entry point into the franchise's larger-than-life treasure hunt.
