Goodbye, Lara Casts New Sisters and Companions Ahead of Summer Premiere

The upcoming original anime Goodbye, Lara has expanded its voice ensemble with the release of its third main promotional video and a fresh key visual. The announcements highlight two new performers set to bring added emotional layers to the story of a mermaid reborn in modern Japan.
Minami Tsuda joins as Risa, Lara's fourth older sister who once looked after her and now seeks her out in human form. Kazutomi Yamamoto voices Kōta, the character who accompanies Risa on her path. These additions spotlight family ties and lingering mysteries tied to Lara's past tragedy from two centuries ago.
Hana Hishikawa stars as the determined mermaid princess Lara, with Nana Kawaishi as Mari Otsu, the high school boxer who offers her shelter near Lake Biwa. Rica Fukami plays the witch Grace, Ayumu Murase is the prince-resembling Luca, and additional roles include Tomohiro Ōno, Mitsuaki Madono, Nanae Sumitomo, and Masaki Terasoma. Takushi Koide directs at Kinema Citrus for the studio's 15th anniversary project, with Anna Kawahara on series composition and yuma yamaguchi composing the music.
The series premieres July 5 at 24:30 JST on Tokyo MX, BS Asahi, YTV, and AT-X, with Crunchyroll streaming it worldwide. Ikimono-gakari performs the opening theme "Sayonara Lara," while Hana Hope sings the newly unveiled ending song "Hearts Glow." The project reimagines classic mermaid lore through themes of forbidden love, rebirth, and finding connection in contemporary Japan.
