Girls' Last Tour Creator Returns with New Prologue Manga Series

Fans of the quiet, haunting post-apocalyptic classic have fresh reason to rejoice. Creator Tsukumizu is returning to Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch web service with a brand-new collection of short stories positioned as a prologue to the beloved Girls' Last Tour.

Titled Kaisō Toshi Danpen-Shū (A Collection of Fragments From Megacity), the series begins serialization on June 26. It chronicles slices of life inside the towering, stratified metropolis humanity built with advanced technology — capturing the ambitions, daily rhythms, and creations of its people across the eras leading toward the world's end.

Tsukumizu's original manga, which ran from 2014 to 2018 and inspired a well-regarded anime, followed two girls wandering the ruins on a motorbike in search of food, fuel, and fleeting moments of warmth. This new work expands that same universe from the other direction, offering intimate glimpses into the long arc of history before everything fell silent.

The announcement arrives alongside the magazine line's 25th anniversary exhibition, where name sketches and replica pages from the new series — plus prototype material from the original Girls' Last Tour — will be on public display.
