Evangelion's Khara Studio Joins Baahubali Animated Epic

Studio Khara, the acclaimed animation house behind the visually groundbreaking Evangelion series, announced it will produce a key animated sequence for BAAHUBALI: THE ETERNAL WAR PART 1.
The project marks a notable international collaboration, with Khara representing Japan alongside studios from India, France, and the U.K. The sequence is directed by Akira Honma, features character design by Noriko Itō, and includes key creative contributions from Mahiro Maeda, a longtime Evangelion collaborator. Japanese firm SlowCurve is coordinating the cross-border production effort.
The two-part animated feature expands the popular Baahubali universe. It follows the betrayed prince Amarendra Baahubali into the afterlife, where he is drawn into an ancient cosmic war between devas and asuras spanning 14 realms. Prabhas and Ramya Krishna are set to reprise their voice roles as Baahubali and Sivagami.
Part 1 is slated for a 2027 theatrical release. The partnership brings Khara’s signature craftsmanship and emotional intensity to a large-scale mythological story rooted in Indian cinema, underscoring growing global exchange in high-end animation production.
