Detective Conan Film Holds Top 4 Spot in Ninth Weekend Box Office

The Detective Conan franchise has once again flexed its theatrical muscle with "Fallen Angel of the Highway," the 29th anime feature in the long-running mystery series. Opening in April on a record 526 screens, the film delivered the franchise's strongest debut weekend to date and has refused to fade, still charting in Japan's upper ranks deep into its run.

Box office tracking through early June placed the movie at No. 4 during its ninth weekend, a rare achievement for any release. Domestic earnings have climbed past 13 billion yen, securing the title a spot among 2026's highest-grossing films overall and underscoring the series' consistent pull with Japanese audiences.

The high-speed motorcycle pursuit story, centered on police officer Chihaya Hagiwara and a clash between angelic forces, was produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Takahiro Hasui. Its legs have been particularly impressive, keeping it ahead of newer competition even as the calendar turns.

International expansion is now underway, with the UK and Ireland receiving the film starting June 12. Theater promotions remain active, including character posters from venues now offered as digital wallpapers, keeping the buzz alive for what has become one of the year's standout anime box office performers.
