Dengeki Daisy Classic Shōjo Manga Gets 2027 TV Anime by Studio DEEN

The otaku community received welcome news this week with the official reveal that Kyousuke Motomi's long-running shōjo manga Dengeki Daisy will receive its first television anime adaptation in 2027. Serialized in Shogakukan's Betsucomi magazine from 2007 to 2013 across 16 volumes and surpassing five million copies in circulation, the series has remained a fan favorite for its distinctive blend of tender emotion and gripping suspense.

At its core, the story follows orphan Teru Kurebayashi, who finds solace in enigmatic text messages from "DAISY," a mysterious figure tied to her late brother's phone. Her world shifts when she encounters the gruff school janitor Tasuku Kurosaki, whose sharp tongue and protective instincts draw her into a web of secrets, danger, and unexpected connection. The manga's "no matter what, I'll protect you" promise has resonated with readers for over a decade.

Studio DEEN is producing the anime, with Sōta Ueno (Days With My Stepsister) directing, Sawako Hirabayashi handling series composition, Ayaka Murakami on character designs, and Masaru Yokoyama composing the music. Author Motomi contributed a special celebratory illustration and comment for the announcement, while Aniplex — which built hype with a cryptic countdown — launched the official website and X account alongside the teaser visual.

With production now underway for a 2027 premiere, Dengeki Daisy is poised to bring its unique mix of romance, mystery, and heartfelt drama to screens for both longtime fans and a new audience. Additional cast, staff, and broadcast details are expected as the project develops.
