Cyborg 009: Nemesis Casts Yamaji and Nara as Key Scientists

The team behind Cyborg 009: Nemesis dropped fresh casting news on June 16, adding two veteran voice actors to the upcoming summer anime. Kazuhiro Yamaji takes on Dr. Isaac Gilmore, the bioengineering expert who served as a father figure and moral compass for Joe Shimamura and the original 00 Cyborgs after defecting from the war-profiteering Black Ghost organization. Tōru Nara voices Dr. Robert Golbert, the nanotechnology specialist who has upgraded the rival Nemesis cyborg unit now challenging the classics.
These additions sharpen the story's focus on generational conflict and the human (and post-human) cost of endless war. Gilmore represents the old guard's conscience and technical backbone, while Golbert embodies the new wave of science powering a group convinced the originals cannot deliver lasting peace. The announcements build directly on earlier reveals of the full 00 team and the Nemesis squad.
Yuki Kaji leads as Cyborg 009/Joe Shimamura, backed by an all-star roster that includes Tomokazu Sugita as Cyborg 004, Mamoru Miyano as Cyborg 002, Saori Hayami as Cyborg 003, and Yuichi Nakamura heading the Nemesis side as Graviton. Hideki Ambo directs at Arect, Atsuhiro Tomioka and CHARATEX handle the scripts, and sanorin designs the characters. A reimagined version of the 1979 theme "Taga Tame ni" performed by Kyōko of Barbee Boys will open the series.
Shotaro Ishinomori's 1964 manga pioneered cyborg action with deep questions about humanity and peace. Cyborg 009: Nemesis leans into those roots while pushing a "generation change" narrative that feels urgent today. With these casting reveals, the production signals it is treating the legacy figures with care as it launches the next chapter.
